Blood Haze Book Four

By Admin · Comments (0)
Saturday, January 14th, 2012

I’ve been receiving a lot of email from fans about the status of Blood Haze book four. I just wanted to make a quick post to assure everyone that while the book is delayed, it IS still being worked on. I anticipated having it done much earlier, but I really want this book to be the best it can be. I hope you’ll all be patient with me just a little longer, because I really feel it will be worth the wait!

I’m also in the middle of relocating, looking for a house, moving, etc., but I’m still using every spare moment to work on the book. So never fear, Book Four is almost here!

Remember, after the book is written it will have to go through editing and cover art/design. But I will do everything I can do get the book through this process as quickly as possible.

Thank you all so much for all the support and patience. You are truly the best fans in the world!

New Novella Released – Blood Rage

By Admin · Comments (0)
Sunday, October 9th, 2011

Blood Rage is the novella-length introduction to the Blood War Chronicles series. It has just been released on Amazon, Smashwords and Barnes & Noble.

“It was a woman who started it all. Her love was the one thing he never expected would ignite the war and bring about the destruction of all humanity. Love – weak, disgusting human love, would be the one thing that would bring about the war that would leave vampires into glory.

The time of The Prophecy was nigh. All the signs were there. The Prophecy foretold the end times of humanity, the destruction of major cities, the catastrophic loss of life due to man’s own penchant for ruthless destruction.

The final piece of The Prophecy had also come at last. Illyan, the Supreme Chancellor of the Twelve Clans of vampires had seen his own wife having visions in increasing frequency and clarity, and the Twelve Clans were certain this was the final sign that The Prophecy was coming true. They knew that Illyan would be the Chancellor who would lead them to victory, wiping the humans off the planet forever, and opening the gates to Heaven and Hell, bringing about the Apocalypse and leading them to rule over the Three Worlds for all of eternity.

But her humanity was the one thing they needed most, and it could lead to their undoing.”

The rest of the Blood War Chronicles series is coming soon!

By Admin · Comments (2)
Sunday, June 12th, 2011

I am extremely proud to announce that Betrayal, the third book in the Blood Haze series is now available for Amazon Kindle!

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0055L5S9M

Synopsis

“Alice may have turned eighteen, but she realizes she is still very much a child emotionally. Understanding she can’t keep the men in her life dangling on the end of a string forever, she pushes them all away in order to find herself.

The timing couldn’t be worse. The mysterious vampire Dmitri is an ever-looming threat, and the wraiths he controls seem unstoppable. Alice needs a clear head more than ever, but so do those around her.

Alice has a lot of growing up to do, and very little time to do it. How will she deal with turmoil in her life without losing herself in the process?”

About the Book

Fans of the Blood Haze series have watched Alice Wright evolve  from a fickle teenage vampire into a strong young woman. She has fallen in love (more than once!), she has discovered latent special abilties she never knew she had, she’s endured unspeakable tragedy and loss, and she’s finally managed to grow up.

After months of bouncing back and forth between Kai, the gentle vampire whose trouble past torments him constantly, Max, the vampire hunter who left behind his whole life to be with her, and Alexi, the mysterious stranger who turns her world upside down, she finally realizes it’s time to grow up. She tells them all she need time to think, and she puts love on the back burner.

Alice is finally beginning to mature. She finally realizes she can no longer keep the men in her life dangling on a string. It’s killing them, and it’s killing her, too.

Not only that, Dmitri is a threat that continues to loom, threatening Alice and everyone she holds dear.

If you’ve been waiting with baited breath for Alice to stop bouncing around like a fickle child, you just might be surprised with Betrayal (Blood Haze: Book Three).

New Cover Art for Storm

By Admin · Comments (0)
Monday, June 6th, 2011

I wasn’t completely happy with the original cover art for Storm (Blood Haze: Book Two), so I’ve created a second cover. I thought I would share both versions, so you can see which one you prefer. I really love the new art, but I’d like to hear your feedback. Which one do you prefer, and why?

The red version is the old one, and the gray version is new.

My First Month in Self-Publishing

By Admin · Comments (8)
Saturday, May 21st, 2011

I always knew I loved writing. I wrote my first story when I was around five years old, and I wrote my first novella when I was about fifteen. However, I never considered pursuing it as a career, because I was daunted by the prospect of rejection by countless agents and publishers. It just didn’t seem worth it to me.

A couple of years ago, I began to hear reports of people making a little money here and there by publishing books for Kindle via Amazon. I didn’t give it a lot of thought at first, because most people just seemed to be making a few bucks here and there — nothing substantial.

It wasn’t until early 2011 that I started reading about some of the real success stories of Kindle publishing — Amanda Hocking, J.A. Konrath, Victorine Lieske, H.P. Mallory, Bella Andre, John Locke, and many others. Sadly, I’ve never been one to live my life based on faith. My life is led based on facts and figures. Once I saw the results these superstars were seeing, I knew it was a viable option. Their success inspired me.

It was about this same time when I finished reading the Twilight Saga books. Okay, sparkly vampires aside, the books inspired me. I was drawn in and held in some kind of captivated awe. The writing itself wasn’t grandiose — it certainly wasn’t literary fiction, nor should it be. Nevertheless, it was enchanting to me.

I was so inspired, I decided to try writing again. I hadn’t written a fiction story in years, even though I’ve been a prolific non-fiction ghostwriter for quite some time. The first story I wrote was an adult vampire fiction novella of around 20,000 words. I plan to publish it at some point, but it’s nowhere near ready, yet. Eventually, it will become the first in a series I’ve mapped out. That series was put on hold once I got the idea for Blood Haze, my young adult paranormal romance series.

I wrote the first book (about 44,000 words) in a week. Within a few days I designed the cover (including custom 3D artwork), wrote the blurb, set up a blog for the series, edited the book, and got it published on Kindle. It went live on April 26, 2011.

I was writing the second book while getting the first ready for publication, so I was able to release book two on May 01, 2011.

So far, I’ve been keeping a daily record of my sales progress. Every night between 9 PM and midnight, I check my stats and record how many have sold overall for each book.

Between April 26 and April 30, I sold 25 copies of Shelter. I sold 3 copies the first day, 3 more the next day, 10 the next day, 7 the next, and 2 on the last day of the month.

I released Storm, the second book, on May 1st. It is currently May 21 at about 5:15 PM, and I have sold 157 copies of Shelter (153 U.S. and 4 U.K.) and 75 copies of Storm (73 U.S. and 2 U.K.) on Amazon, and 10 copies of Shelter and 3 copies of Storm on Pubit (Barnes & Noble). I just uploaded to Pubit on May 8th, because someone requested it for their Nook. Prior to that, I’d considered ignoring Barnes & Noble, and I’m glad I didn’t. Because of Pubit, I’ve already reached an additional 10+ readers this month — assuming everyone who bought Storm had also purchased Shelter.

I have also started the process of creating a print version of Shelter. I got the proof copy from CreateSpace yesterday, but there were some minor errors to the cover. I’ve had to make some corrections, and I will have to order another proof copy as soon as I can afford to. (Yes, I’m THAT broke. I won’t get into my situation. Suffice to say — it’s bad.)

To some, selling 270 books in less than one month won’t seem like much of an accomplishment. To others, it’s astounding. I’ve surpassed my own wildest dreams for my first month. I would have been absolutely thrilled to sell 100 the first month! I’m on track to sell over 300 copies total in my first 30 days! To me, that’s a massive accomplishment!

Many people have asked me how I did it. They want to know what I’ve done as far as promotion. The answer is… not much! To tell the truth, I haven’t done much in regards to promotion. At first, I simply added my books to my signature on KindleBoards.com and posted in the Writer’s Cafe (not promoting, just talking to other writers about self-publishing), and I set up a Facebook account. I posted my book to a handful of book groups in my genre (less than ten), and I submitted my book to a few book bloggers. Most of the bloggers have not yet had time to review my first book, so that has had little to do with it.

I also participated in a couple of tagging threads, asking other people to tag my books, and I tagged theirs. I think this may have helped, but I’m not certain.

I gave review copies to a few people who asked, and they read the book and left their reviews on Amazon. most were very favorable, which probably helped boost sales.

That’s all I can really think of that I’ve done so far in terms of promotion. I’m honestly very surprised I’ve sold as many as I have. It’s been a really great month!

My goal for next month is to sell 500 copies. Since I’ve sold around 250 already this month, I think 500 is a reasonable goal. I’m hoping some more book bloggers will get around to reading my book, and I’m going to keep promoting every chance I get.

By the way, I have done all of this while working long hours as a freelance ghostwriter and designer. Don’t make excuses. I did that for years, and it got me nowhere. If you want to be a successful author, find the time. Make the time. If I can do it, believe me… you can, too!

I will update this post with my final sales figures for the month when they’re in.
